Hungary national team coach Marco Rossi said that Germany and Switzerland are the most likely to reach the knockout rounds of Group A of the European Nations Cup.
“On paper, Germany and Switzerland should qualify for the round of 16,” Rossi told the UEFA website.
He pointed out that his team will compete with Scotland to obtain third place in the first group standings.
The regulations for the competition, which is hosted by Germany, stipulate that the winner and runner-up of each group will qualify for the knockout stage, in addition to the four best third-placed teams.
The Italian coach added, “At the moment I believe that in our group, we can become the third strongest team alongside Scotland.”
He explained, “Our dream and goal is to reach the round of 16. We have proven that we are capable of defeating any team. But we realize that we may lose to any competitor. We keep our feet on the ground and focus on our work.”
Hungary begins its European campaign tomorrow, Saturday, by facing Switzerland, before facing Germany and then Scotland.
