Uruguayan star Luis Suarez announced his official retirement from international football at dawn on Tuesday. Suarez (37 years old) ended his international career during which he achieved many successes.
Suarez won the 2011 Copa America with his country’s national team and reached the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup with Uruguay.
Suarez said: “I think this is the right time, I want to be comfortable when I play my last match (on Friday)” referring to the special times he spent with the Uruguayan national team since 2007.
The current Inter Miami, Liverpool and former Barcelona player will not be able to participate in the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
Suarez tops the list of Uruguay’s all-time top scorers with 69 goals.
